Freedom
Call it Ours
as something
to be maintained, supported
nurtured but never owned
For we know that any creation of a righteous God
may never be bound by our will
She is, he is, they are one of ours
Call us ours
As in every moment in time
Every flesh and blood and push
Every labor of love and of life
That we come into and come from
That was necessary
We have always been ours
Both the most and the least we’ve got
To work with and work on
An innovation and afterlife
We see Black never dies
For we exist as a wheel turns forward
We go back and find
Call it ours
A commitment to every passing second and soul
Into the next day and night
rejoicing once more
